About Arfvedsonite

Arfvedsonite, a rare amphibole mineral, was first discovered in 1823 by Swedish chemist Johan August Arfwedson while analyzing samples from Greenland. Its chemical composition is complex, primarily consisting of sodium, iron, magnesium, and various silicate materials.

Historically, Arfvedsonite has not had significant commercial use due to its rarity and the difficulty in extracting it in pure form. However, it has been a subject of interest for geologists and mineralogists for its unique crystal structure and magnetic properties. Its striking, dark black or blue-black crystals with a glassy luster also make it a sought-after specimen for collectors.

Arfvedsonite is also valued for its metaphysical and spiritual properties.

About Iolite

Iolite, often referred to as the “Viking’s Compass,” derives its name from the Greek word “ios,” meaning violet. This gemstone has a rich history dating back to ancient civilizations, including the Vikings, who are believed to have used iolite as a navigational aid on their maritime journeys. The gem’s unique property of displaying different colors when viewed from different angles, known as pleochroism, made it invaluable for determining the direction of the sun on overcast days. Beyond its historical significance, iolite is cherished for its stunning shades of blue-violet, ranging from deep indigo to clear lavender.
