Indian agate, known for its rich and diverse colors, originates from the ancient lands of India, where it has been revered for centuries as a stone of strength, stability, and protection. Formed primarily in regions like Maharashtra and Gujarat, Indian agate was one of the earliest gemstones used in trade and jewelry by civilizations along the Indus Valley. Its vibrant earth tones, ranging from deep greens to warm reds and browns, have long captured the fascination of artisans and spiritual practitioners alike. Ancient cultures believed Indian agate held protective powers, and it was often carried as a talisman to ward off negative energies and bring good fortune to its bearer. Warriors would carry it into battle, believing the stone granted them courage and the fortitude to face any challenge.

Geologically, Indian agate is a type of microcrystalline quartz, part of the chalcedony family, which forms through layers of silica deposition over time. This layering process, combined with various mineral impurities, creates the stunning banded patterns and earthy tones unique to Indian agate. Iron gives it reddish hues, while other trace minerals like manganese and nickel add shades of green, yellow, or even pink.

As with most jewelry its is not recommended to use ultrasonic cleaners, hot water, or chemical cleaners.  Use a polishing cloth or wash with mild soap, warm water and dry throughly.

It is not recommended to wear jewelry while swimming, showering, or in a sauna as the chlorine is not good for the metal or stones.

Avoid wearing while using chemicals such as household cleaners.
