About MARIAM  JASPER

Mariam Jasper is a variety of brecciated jasper, which is a rock formed from broken fragments of other rocks that have been cemented together. It is composed of various minerals, including quartz, chalcedony, calcite, and hematite, which give it a distinctive reddish-brown color with streaks of cream and gray.

The origins of Mariam Jasper are not entirely clear, but it is believed to be found primarily in the area of the Maryam Mountain range, located in the Oromia Region of Ethiopia. This region is known for producing a variety of high-quality gemstones, including opals, emeralds, and sapphires, in addition to various types of jasper.

Hardness: 6.5 - 7 Mohs

 

Care of Mariam Jasper

Clean using a soft cloth and soapy water rinsing well and polishing after to remove any soap residue. As with most gemstones, ultrasonic cleaners and steamers are not recommended. Store in a soft case away from hard objects to avoid being scratched.
