About Dumortierite
Dumortierite is named after the French paleontologist Eugene Dumortier who discovered the gemstone. This striking variation of Sunset Dumortierite has a lighter denim color than regular Dumortierite, with intriguing pattern and tonal variations.
Dumortierite crystals are formed most often in metamorphic rocks that are rich in aluminum and under high temperatures. Dumortierite is found in Brazil, Europe, Sri Lanka and Peru, as well as both the United States and Canada.
