About Blue and Golden Tigers Eye Gemstone

Tigers Eye Gemstone is a member of the quartz group. Tiger's eye is made up of quartz with intergrown fibers of amphibole that were altered to golden or rusty-brown colored limonite. Hawks Eye is a blue grey to blue green variant of macrocrystalline quartz. Tigers Eye is actually derived from Hawks Eye. While Tiger Eye is a distinctive brownish gold, Hawks Eye is more grayish blue because Hawks Eye has less iron in it than Tiger Eye, hence the color it has.

Tiger's Eye is mostly sourced in South Africa, from the Northern Cape Province. Other sources include Namibia, Australia, India, and Thailand.
